When Gavin finally called her over, Grace walked out toward them with streaks of tears still on her cheeks and wrapped her arms around the both of them. “Congrats, you two,” she sniffled. “Gavin, you finally got your happily ever after.” Gavin couldn’t help laughing. “Why are you crying harder than the people actually getting engaged?” “I’m just so moved… and it hit me—I’ve never been proposed to!” Grace’s tone was impossibly earnest. Gavin let out a full-on laugh at that. Max stood there, a bit stunned. He’d seen Grace before back in college—her face wasn’t unfamiliar—but he hadn’t expected her to literally appear out of nowhere, hug them, start crying, then say something so completely out of left field. Still, he gently handed her a tissue. Gavin shot him a look: I’ll explain later
