Ashlyn POV
I stepped out of the car and surveyed my surroundings. The area was eerily isolated. On one side of the road, there was a solitary building backed by dense woods, while on the other side, a wall of towering trees stretched into the distance.
“Um! Excuse me!” I bent to look through the window. “Can you please drop me back?”
The uber-driver was all prepared to drive away as he replied, “I am afraid I cannot. I already told you I have clients a few distances away. I am already late, this will harm my rating.”
“You can at least drive me where you are receiving– your client!” I casually completed the last few words as he drove away without hearing me out.
Gulping hard, I moved my gaze around. I didn't want to be in the area at all. I reached out for my phone to call Evan.
