When I finished crying, I sank down to lay my head in Oliver’s lap. He stroked my hair and let me rest. I felt so empty, like every emotion inside of me had come out with the tears. In this place that smelled like me and my grandfather, I normally felt safe and happy. This was the place where we were able to relax and be ourselves.
