Jealousy burns

(Christian ) (The Next Day) I knew something was wrong the moment I stepped outside. Today felt different like something was about to happen. But instead, it was my mates watching me like they usually do. Greyson, Mason, and Jaxon stood together, their attention on me like I was about to do something that would set them off. I tried to ignore them. They had made it clear yesterday that they weren’t happy about me leaving, and I wasn’t about to have the same argument all over again. I needed space, and if they couldn’t give it to me, I’d take it. I decided to cook off a bit, I wasn't sure what I was going to do today. Everyone has tasks but I didn't care about that. I only cared about leaving for college and getting my wolf but none of that is about to happen. I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings, so I didn't notice when Zoe walked up to me. I barely knew her; heck I barely knew anyone else because I hated to socialize. She was just another pack member, someone I’d seen around but never really spoken to. But today, she looked at me differently. Her smile was playful, her eyes filled with something I didn’t want to name. “You looked a little lonely over here,” she said, tilting her head as she stepped closer. I forced a polite smile. “I’m fine.” She laughed, flipping her hair over her shoulder. “You don’t have to act tough, you know. I don’t mind keeping you company.” I could feel them watching. I didn’t have to look to know Greyson was already on edge. Mason and Jaxon were probably whispering to him, trying to calm him down, but I knew it wouldn’t work. Zoe stepped even closer, resting a hand on my arm. “You know, I never really got to talk to you much before. Which is a shame because I think we’d get along really well.” I shifted uncomfortably, taking a step back, but she just followed. Why was everyone suddenly so interested in talking to me? I'm lame; I kept to myself most of the time. They knew that I was mated to the triplets, but here was Zoe flirting with me like she didn't care. “I heard you’re leaving soon,” she continued, her voice soft. “That’s too bad. It’d be nice to get to know you better.” Before I could respond, the tension in the air snapped. A growl. Low. Dangerous. Then Greyson was there. He shoved between us, knocking Zoe back a step. His whole body was rigid, fists clenched, jaw tight. His breathing was hard, his chest rising and falling too fast. Mason and Jaxon were right behind him, their expressions less aggressive but just as serious. Mason grabbed Greyson’s shoulder, trying to hold him back. “Grey, don’t.” Greyson didn’t even glance at him. His eyes were locked on Zoe, dark and furious. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Zoe blinked, looking between us. “We were just talking.” Greyson took a step closer. “You don’t touch him.” She let out a small laugh, though it sounded nervous. “It was just—” “Just nothing,” Greyson snapped. “He’s not available. Stay away from him.” Zoe frowned, looking at me like she expected me to say something. I opened my mouth, but Greyson spoke first. “He’s ours.” My stomach twisted. I hated this. The way he said it was like I belonged to them. Like I didn’t have a choice. Zoe crossed her arms. “Christian can talk to whoever he wants.” Greyson’s eyes flashed. “Not you.” Mason stepped in then, putting a hand on Greyson’s chest and pushing him back slightly. “Relax.” Greyson shoved his hand off. “No.” His voice was filled with irritation, and his body was practically shaking. “I’m sick of this. First Liam, now her? How many more people are going to try to take what’s ours?” “Greyson,” Jaxon said, his tone calm but firm. “You need to breathe.” Greyson ignored him, his eyes still on Zoe. “If I see you near him again, I don’t care who you are, I will make sure you regret it.” Zoe’s face paled. She glanced at me one more time, then turned and walked away without another word. I let out a slow breath, my heart pounding. Greyson turned to me, his jaw tight. “Are you enjoying this?” I frowned. “What?” “All this attention,” he snapped. “Letting people think they have a chance with you.” I clenched my fists. “I’m not letting anyone think anything.” He stepped closer, his voice lowering. “Then why do you keep letting them near you?” I let out a humorless laugh. “Because I’m not a prisoner, Greyson. I can talk to people.” His expression darkened. “Not when they want something that isn’t theirs to take.” Mason sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. “This isn’t helping.” Jaxon nodded. “We need to talk about this, not fight.” Greyson’s body was still tense, but he didn’t move. He just stared at me, his eyes burning with rage. I shook my head. “This is exactly why I have to leave.” Greyson flinched like I had slapped him. Mason and Jaxon stiffened. “You don’t have to go,” Jaxon said, his voice softer now. “We can figure this out.” I swallowed. “You’re not listening. I need to figure out what I want, and I can’t do that here. Not when you’re all breathing down my neck every time someone talks to me.” Greyson sighed, running a hand through his hair. “You already know what you want. You’re just too stubborn to admit it.” I crossed my arms. “And what is that, Greyson?” His eyes locked onto mine, unyielding. “Us.” Silence. Mason and Jaxon didn’t say anything. They just watched, waiting. I let out a shaky breath. “I don’t know.” Greyson clenched his jaw, his whole body trembling with frustration. “Then figure it out fast. Because I don’t know how much longer I can stand here and watch people try to take you from us.” Then, before I could say anything else, he turned and stormed off. Mason sighed, shaking his head. “He just needs time to cool off.” Jaxon didn’t look so sure. “I don’t think time is going to fix this.” Neither did I.
