I knew I needed to just stay put and stay out of it. Bide my time, be a good girl, mind my own damned business and log any info I might gain in overhearing the conversation unfolding in front of me. Maybe if I had access to all of my magic, all my power, I wouldn't have hesitated to call Mom and the Enforcers and bring in the big guns while trusting my own magic was enough to keep everyone intact while I waited for the cavalry to arrive. Maybe. Okay, probably. I used to be that arrogant. Might have succeeded in staying alive, too, even succeeded in gaining ground and being a shero. But any inclination I might have to try such a suicide mission now? Against a sorceress far too clever for her own good and a half-drach with a small army of what looked like-pardon the pun- faithful followers?
