Honestly, a part of me knew it would be wise to tell Nathan what my mother had suggested. But I just… couldn’t.
She had no idea how sensitive Nathan was—or how easily he could change his mind and withdraw the money I was supposed to receive. And she definitely didn’t know about that.
After dinner, I reassured her that I’d keep an eye on Cole, making sure he didn’t know anything, and warned her not to say another word to him. Once she was satisfied, she left for her new apartment.
