Adele: I stood there for a moment, trying to piece together what that man could possibly want from me. Still, I didn’t want to let my thoughts show, so I turned to her and forced a smile. “Don’t worry about it, Anna. Honestly, I’m glad you did what you did. I’ll be working till dusk anyway,” I said, brushing it off with a wave of my hand. “Just make sure you get those reports I asked for two days ago and bring them to my office, okay?” She nodded quickly. “Yes, ma’am.” With that, I turned and walked down the corridor to my office. As I pulled out my keys and pushed the door open, a chill ran down my spine. I glanced around instinctively, taking a mental inventory of the space.
