A few minutes had passed, yet the dizziness only worsened. My head was spinning, my vision blurring at the edges, and my body felt unbearably heavy. It was as if I were drunk—but I wasn’t. I knew I wasn’t.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, I pushed myself up from the seat, swaying on my feet. My legs felt unsteady, as if they might give out at any second. I needed to get upstairs. To my room. Somewhere safe.
I forced one foot in front of the other, stumbling as I made my way toward the staircase. Every step was a struggle. My heart pounded in my chest, my breathing uneven as I finally reached the top.
With blurry eyes, I shuffled down the hallway, barely aware of my surroundings. My hands trembled as I reached for the doorknob, twisting it open.
