Chapter 13 Lauren sat on the big couch beside Emily and Mark. The two of them were holding hands as they waited for the ceremony to begin. She wished she had someone to sit with, someone to hold her hand—neither of which sounded like her. At least not the old her, but was definitely going to be a part of the new her. The person she wanted to be holding hands with was standing at the front of the seating area with his brother, awaiting the bride’s arrival. Patrick only had the one good suit—now completely rain-soaked. They’d attacked him, and it, with a half dozen hair dryers, but he still looked damp and rumpled. She didn’t care. He could be sitting naked in the stream for all she cared. The image in her head—the images, for there were so many—were mostly centered around his easy smile
