I was jolted awake by a rustling sound outside my room. Although I was reluctant to get up, my spirits were fully alert. I turned to my left, instinctively expecting to find Clark by my side, just like the morning I woke in the mansion. However, this was my first morning at his house, and as I opened my eyes, I realized he was not there. Glancing at the bedside table, I checked the time and saw it was past eight in the morning—much later than I intended to rise, especially since I still planned to go to the company. I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to freshen up before leaving the room. Making my way to the kitchen, I hoped to find Clark there, but instead, I encountered a female cleaner busy vacuuming the floor. She paused when she saw me approach and greeted me politely.
