My hopes were dashed as Valerie reminded me of my reaction when I thought she cheated on me with Jamal. I ended things with her and now the tables were turned.
How could I make her understand?
What could I possibly say that would convince her to give me a second chance?
“Valerie, I’m sorry that I didn’t trust you. But I didn’t technically cheat on you. I gave you the divorce papers before doing anything with Jessica.”
I knew my defense was hollow, but I needed to say something. Even if it wasn’t reasonable, I wanted her to know that if things were different, I wouldn’t have hurt her like that.
The damage had already been done, but I was ready to go to any length to fix it. I didn’t want a divorce anymore. I didn’t want to lose my wife.
