Kimmie moved to stand next to Alvar as he motioned to her phone.
“Do you want to try calling him?”
“What if it’s not him who has his phone?” she whispered nervously.
“Only one way to find out,” Alvar nodded reassuringly at her.
She dialed out his phone as Alvar started typing frantically on his laptop. “Please pick up,” she felt Lyra moving behind her to hug her from behind.
“Hello? Kimmie?” Ajax’s voice sounded scratchy and far away. “God damn tell me you can hear me.”
She immediately started crying, “Ajax. You’re alive.”
He gave a chuckle, “if you’re asking if I’m alive it means you know we crashed.” He heard her sobs and sighed, “oh baby, don’t cry. I love you. I’m going to get home to you. I promise. Don’t panic. I never want you to panic. I love you baby.”
