LAST CHAPTER -
The hospital room was cold. The smell of antiseptic burned in the air. Machines beeped steadily, but to Abhimanyu, they sounded like a countdown.
His sister...his Kaaya...was slipping away.
He knelt beside her bed, his hands clutching hers as if he could physically hold onto her life. His chest ached, his throat burned.
“Kaaya,” his voice cracked. “Don’t do this. Don’t leave me.”
She didn’t respond. Her breath was heavy, labored. Every rise and fall of her chest looked like a battle.
“After Mom… Dad… you were all I had.” His voice broke. “You fought for me, Kaaya. Fought against the whole damn world. So fight now, damn it! Fight for yourself.”
Kaaya’s eyes fluttered open. Barely.
She was so weak.
Her lips parted, her voice nothing more than a whisper.
