The car door slammed shut, the echo ringing in the empty street.
Kaaya’s chest heaved as she pounded her fists against the window, her voice sharp, desperate. “Dev, let me out!”
No response.
He walked around the car, his movements calm too calm. Like a predator who had already cornered its prey.
The driver’s door swung open.
A second later, he slid into the seat beside her, the scent of rain and fury clinging to him.
The storm outside was nothing compared to the one brewing inside him.
The ignition roared to life.
Kaaya’s heart pounded. “Dev, I swear, if you don’t stop this car ”
His fingers curled around the steering wheel, knuckles white, his jaw clenched so hard she thought it might break.
“You were leaving,” he said, voice low.
