I slowly opened my eyes, the bright lights hurting them. I felt groggy. What was going on? Where was I? As my eyes adjusted to the lights, I realised that I was in the hospital. I saw Jake standing by the door, talking quietly to the doctor. I remembered him pinning me down while she sedated me, but why? Then it hit me. What had I done? I had failed her. I had let them take her, and now Kelly was gone. She would be taken to the citadel and in all likeliness executed. At the very least imprisoned for the rest of her life. It was all my fault. I had led her down this dark path so many years ago. I should have spoken to her about it back then and not just obeyed that damn letter. I had seen that she was hurting but had convinced myself that there must be some other reason
