Omegas are extinct.

The Moon Goddess made sure of it—cursing the mighty Lycans with a slow, agonizing death no healer can stop.

Their only salvation? The very wolves they once despised and then hunted to extinction…

Or did they?

Leticia Rivers, an orphan, is sold to the Sinclair’s—the most ruthless, feared Lycans alive.

She arrives collared by secrets: a glowing blue necklace she’s forbidden to remove but doesn’t know why… and a body that shouldn’t crave the scent of the man who looks at her like she’s beneath him.

Kayden Sinclair the man who hates every she-wolf after he was almost killed for trusting too much.

He treats Leticia like dirt under his boot—until the moment other Lycans catch her scent.

Then something primal cracks inside him.

He feels something clawing inside him, pushing.

And every time Cirrus smirks at her, every time another powerful Lycan steps too close, Kayden’s control frays… and the air thickens with barely-leashed hunger.

For four long years she hides what she is.

Until the night the curse claims its next victim—and Leticia makes the reckless choice to rip off the necklace that’s kept her secret buried.

Her scent is finally revealed, and the very Lycan she swore never to fall in love with despite that weird attraction claims her as his.

Chapter 1: King’s Son Visit and His “Distraction.”
“Letty, you can’t take your necklace off, never. Do you understand?” I nod. “Do you understand?!” “Yes,” I reply this time, nodding as hard as I can. “Good, don’t you forget it. This—” she said, pointing at my necklace. “— will save your life.” I nodded again, even though she wasn’t asking me a question anymore. I felt like I had to. She smiled so sweetly before turning into black smoke. “Nooooo!” I screamed, jolting awake. The first thing I do is clutch the necklace like it's my lifeline. What was that dream? I haven’t dreamt of that day for years, so why now? “I have a bad feeling about this,” I whispered, as I shook my head to clear my thoughts. I was covered in sweat, I felt sticky and disgusting, but I had to work. I sigh. That dream is scary, and now I’m all jumpy, but that only means I need to keep an eye open and follow her advice of never taking my necklace off, which I already do. I clutch the small blue crystal even tighter; it always hangs around my neck, even if I shower. It looks… ordinary, and I don’t truly understand why I can’t take it off, but my gut tells me to trust that woman. Whoever she may be. “Leticia, you are already late!” The head maid yells outside my door. “For f***s sake,” I grumbled under my breath before undressing to put my uniform on. I wanted to shower, but I guess that’s out of the question. She is a pain in the ass. Nobody likes her, but since she is the Luna’s lapdog, she still has her job, and will probably have it until she rots. “Leticia!” “Coming!” I yelled back, tying my hair in a ponytail. I can’t even brush my teeth without her breathing down my neck. I open the door, and of course, she is right outside, tapping her foot on the floor, like that would make me move faster. If anything, I want even more to take my sweet time with every action I take. Okay, Letty, don’t let her get under your skin. “You are late,” she states. I decide to keep my mouth shut for once. “The Lycan King is coming this week, move it.” I had to fight the urge to roll my eyes. I know when he is coming, everyone has known for at least a month. I get it, the Lycan King is a huge deal, but sheesh, hold your horses. He is just a man; if he doesn’t like us, nothing we do will change his opinion. If he is an ass, he will stay an ass. At least that’s what I think. Besides, I was told he is old enough to make your skin crawl and has the worst temper of all kings in at least a thousand years. So yeah, hard pass on impressing him. Still, I don’t want to get on that witch's bad side, so I get to work. I love to eat, and the only punishment she sees fit is not letting me eat enough. Stupid, I know. That and getting lashed, but since I’m still a minor, that’s out of the question, for a few days at least. As I suspected, everyone is running around like chickens without their heads, which would be comical if I didn’t have to work alongside them. By the time of lunch, I’m all sweaty and smelly. “Letty,” Miranda, another maid with whom I became friends, whispers to me. “You smell.” “Of course I do!” I grumbled. “We are working like slaves! I was already sweaty in the morning, but this is just making it worse!” “Shh,” she shushed me. “The head maid is going to get angry at you!” I scoffed. “Let her, what is the worst she can do, besides this?” I saw how Miranda paled, and heard how someone cleared their throat right behind me. I gulped. Just my luck. I turned around with a huge smile plastered on my face to feign ignorance, but of course, this wasn’t my lucky day. “Leticia Rivers, you think this is too much work?” The head maid asked, her tone too soft to be any good. Yep, she is going to work me until I pass out and die today. Everyone cusses out loud, but I had to be the one getting caught. “Uhh…” I wasn’t sure what to say to save myself. “I… no, of course not, this is easy.” “Is that so?” She asked with a quirked eyebrow. Yep. Dead. I nodded earnestly. “Yes, easy peasy.” Her lips turned into a wide smile that sent a shiver down my spine. She looks so damn scary… “Since you think so, I guess you can handle one more task then.” Kill me. I tried to mimic her smile, but I’m sure mine came out all awkward and tired, because that’s how I feel inside. “You will be the King’s personal maid.” Yep, kill me… “And you know what that means, right?” I gulped at her question. “You will be his…” Her eyes trailed me. “Distraction.” I clenched my fists until I drew blood. “Over my dead f*****g body.” I refuse. Ever since Alphas destroyed the last omegas, they go crazy for any she-wolf they can find. It doesn’t matter if they are ranked or not; if anything, they prefer when they aren’t. And I refuse. I won’t let them use me. All my coworkers and friends, especially Miranda, gasp. They didn’t expect me to snap like this. “Funny that you think you have a choice. You don’t even have a family to back you up, Leticia.” I lifted an eyebrow, not understanding what that meant, but before I could ask or even move, I felt a cloth over my nose. “Sweet dreams, Leticia. To be honest, I never liked you.” Likewise, b***h. And darkness enveloped me. ————————————————— My head hurts, and everything is spinning. The floor is cold. “Letty,” I hear someone whisper, but my eyelids feel too heavy to follow my command. “Letty,” the voice insists. I groaned, my body protesting because I’m trying to move it. “LETTY!” For f***s sake! “What?!” I groan, my head feels like it’s splitting open. “Eat,” they ordered, and I can finally tell who that voice belonged to. Everything is still hazy; whatever drug was used, it sure is potent. “What happened, Mi—“ I move my head and hear a rattle. “The heck?!” I suddenly open my eyes, and the light makes me groan and close them again, but that short glimpse was more than enough to give me an idea of where the hell I am. “I can’t take you out,” Miranda informed me before I could even ask. “The Alpha has the key. He ordered everyone to leave you here and not give you a drop of water or a crumb of food.” I scoff. “He thinks that will change my mind? Doesn’t he know how stubborn I can be?” Miranda sighs. I still can’t open my eyes, but I can hear and smell everything. Miranda is risking her life for me. “He knows, but doesn’t care if you budge or not. The Lycan King will come, and…” she trailed off. I didn’t need her to finish that sentence. I already knew. “Leave the bread, Miranda. Me getting hurt is more than enough,” I said, the dizziness was slowly fading. Sob. What the— “It’s not fair,” Miranda suddenly said, her voice trembling. Despite the pain, I move so I can face her. As much as I can, considering I’m in a cage. “Mira—“ “No!” She cuts me off. “This is not fair. Alphas and the kings are all the same! They didn’t understand what they did despite the curse!” I sigh heavily. This is not certain, since the curse has been around for at least five hundred years, but it is said that the Moon Goddess saw how high-ranking wolves treated their mates when they were omegas and became so angry that she decided to teach them a lesson. At first, she gave her powers to the five Lycan families. They were ecstatic, thought they were invisible, and used them without considering the repercussions. “Miranda, all we know is that the Lycan families get sick easily after a while,” I pointed out. She scoffs. It is hard to believe, but yes, after a while, the Lycans experience things you wouldn’t relate to a wolf. Dizziness, headaches and even nosebleeds. It is unbelievable, considering we are wolves, so everyone thinks that the power the Goddess gave those Lycans came with a price. “Miranda, we don’t even know if that is hearsay or not,” I tried to reason, extending my hand to grab the bread so she could leave quickly. I really don’t want to get her in trouble. She rolled her eyes. “Then tell me, Letty. Why did omegas start disappearing?” I was about to take my first bite when I froze. “I…” Miranda has a point. Before the curse, there were many omegas. For one Alpha, you had at least a hundred omegas, but now? None. They’ve gone extinct. If you ever find one, you will be handsomely rewarded. In short, the omegas they hated so much became as rare as dimonds. I can’t say the roles were reversed, though. Omegas were still mistreated, which might be the reason why the Moon Goddess no longer allows omegas to be born. The good part of this story is that since they can’t stop using their powers, they will eventually die. A Lycan from those families living over fifty? Unheard of. “Okay, you might be right. That’s more reason for you to leave, Miranda. I’m already here, my destiny is this, but you don’t have to share—“ “I won’t,” she said gravely. “I’m a coward, after all. I can’t face what you are about to go through, but… that doesn’t mean I can’t get angry.” I chuckled, then hissed in pain. What the hell did they drug me with?! “I’ll stab the Lycan for all the fallen wolves, don’t worry about that,” I was trying to pretend like I wasn’t scared or sad. To think that my life would end probably this week was something I hadn’t expected to happen. “The thing is…” Miranda mumbled, averting her gaze. “The Lycan King is not coming alone; he is bringing his son.” Great. Just great.
