"Aunt Carol peed on a stick, and now she is having a baby," Maddy says as everyone sits around the table eating cake with Mia and Cole. The adults look at each other and start laughing, and Carol is red in the face, and Marcelo can not help but smile. They are all there as they want Mia to know they see her as part of their family and will never hold her responsible for what her family did.
"Maddy, one does not talk about things like that at the table," Carol says.
"But it is true. I want to see what the stick looks like," Maddy says.
"I can not show you. I will explain everything to you when we get home," Carol says. She is unsure how she will explain it to Maddy, but she will have to find a way. Maddy talks way too much, and Salva takes his sister so they can go and play outside. T
