Jennie and Dante enjoy their time with their family. They know they will have to tell the children about Jennie's fight with cancer, but they are enjoying the children so much that they do not want to spoil the fun they are having with the children. They enjoy Maddy, an innocent little girl, and Salva, who is too mature for his age. Dante and Jennie have fallen instantly in love with Salva and Maddy.
"Grandma Jennie, why do you look so sick?" Maddy asks, as she can see Jennie does not feel okay.
"It is because I am old, my baby girl," Jennie says.
"But you look like a ghost today. Your face is so white. Do you have pain?" Maddy asks.
"When one gets old, we get sick, and I am sick, little one," Jennie tells Maddy. She does not see Carol and Jayda standing behind them.
