Chapter 46

855 Words
_Aaron's POV_ Everything was going according to plan. I watched as Lyla left the room with my mother, her laughter still lingering in the air. She looked so happy, so trusting. My mate. My future Luna. My queen. She had no idea. A slow smile spread across my lips as I leaned back against the chair. The potion was working perfectly. When she had woken up, confused and weak, I had given her the water—just as the witch had instructed. And the moment she drank it, I had seen the change. The haze in her eyes had cleared, and her energy had returned. She felt strong. Happy. Completely under my control. I chuckled to myself. It was almost too easy. The fake mate bond between us felt as if it was real. I knew that. I could feel the pull just as much as she did. But that wasn’t enough. I couldn’t risk her fighting against me, questioning things, or worse—trying to leave. She needed to stay by my side, devoted and obedient. The potion made sure of that. But I wasn’t a fool. This wasn’t over yet. I was close to my goal, but one mistake could ruin everything. Lyla was strong-willed. Even with the potion, if she suspected anything, she could resist. And I couldn’t allow that. Not when I was this close. I stood up and stretched before reaching for my phone. There was one more thing I needed to take care of. I dialed the witch’s number, my fingers tapping impatiently against the table as the phone rang. She answered after the second ring. “Ah, Alpha,” she purred. “I assume you’re pleased with my work?” I smirked. “It’s working exactly as you promised. She drank the potion and now she is completely under my influence. She feels happy, strong—just like you said she would. She no longer suspects me and some of her memories have also been lost.” “I am glad to hear that.” There was amusement in her voice. “But the effects won’t last forever. You’ll need to keep giving it to her. If she stops drinking it, her mind will clear.” “I know,” I said. “That is why I need more of it. Prepare another batch. I’ll come by soon to pick it up.” The witch laughed softly. “You really don’t want to take any chances, do you?” I narrowed my eyes. “I have worked too hard for this. One mistake, and everything falls apart.” “Smart man,” she said. “The next batch will be ready soon. And don’t forget, Alpha—you owe me a large sum for this. I don’t work for free.” I smirked. “Don’t worry. The next time I come to see you, I’ll bring the advance payment. You’ll get the rest once everything is done. I always keep my promises.” The witch hummed in satisfaction. “Good. Then we won’t have any problems.” I ended the call and let out a slow breath. Everything was under control. Lyla was mine. She would stay by my side. And soon, when the wedding was complete, everything I had planned for would become reality. I was so close to my goal. I turned at the sound of footsteps. My mother entered the room. There was a pleased smile on her face. “She looks beautiful in her dress,” she said. “It fits her perfectly.” I smiled. “Of course, it does. She was made to be my Luna.” “She is happy,” my mother said, watching me closely. “I can see it in her eyes. That’s good.” “Yes,” I agreed. “Everything is falling into place.” She nodded. “Now, we need to focus on the wedding arrangements. The decorations, the guest list, the food—it all needs to be perfect.” “It will be,” I assured her. “Nothing will go wrong.” My mother studied me for a moment. Then, with a satisfied nod, she turned to leave. “Make sure you don’t get distracted, Aaron,” she said over her shoulder. “We have come too far to lose everything now.” I clenched my fists. “I won’t.” She left the room, and I exhaled slowly. No distractions. No mistakes. Lyla was mine. And soon, the entire world would know it. Lyla had no idea what was waiting for her. She thought that she was safe. She thought that she had found her mate, her future, her happiness. But she was only a pawn in my game. Once I had everything I needed from her—her power, her blood, the final piece of the prophecy—I would sacrifice her. She was nothing more than a means to an end. I controlled her like a puppet, and she didn’t even know it. And the best part? There was no one coming to save her. She was completely alone.
