The price for recklessness was never rewarding. I should know. Waking up made me feel like a train had run me over.
Alex wasn’t by my side when I opened my eyes, but mom was.
I groaned, hating the bright light that seemed hell bent on blinding me, and she was quick to say, “Let me call the dcotor, sweetie.”
“Where’s Alex?” I asked, stopping her as I grabbed her wrist. “And where’s Tyler?”
“Tyler’s with Paulina,” mom let out softly. “The woman cried heavily, hating and blaming herself for suggesting that you go on a run.”
“Oh,” I let out softly, a small smile stretching my lips. “She truly is a dear friend.”
“Alex has just stepped out to give instructions,” she went on, before I could ask about my mate again. “He’ll be back any moment now.”
