Chapter 1
I will never forget the first time I met Luci properly, like everyone else I knew the sherrif had a daughter and she was a bit of a wild card, but I hadn’t taken much notice before. She was my brothers best friend at school, and here I was in the principals office dealing with Mike and her.
Mike was a late developer, a scrawny kid who got picked on occasionally by the popular a.ssholes. So I was more than surprised to hear he had apparently injured some students in a fight. It still makes me laugh when I think about that day.
There she was leaning against the wall glaring at Ms Gillford as if she wanted to wring her neck. I know several brothers who would pi.ss their pants when they were still at school if Ms Gillford was angry at them, and this slip of a girl at 16 had no fu.cks to give.
Her blue hair was a mess. She had a cut on her lip and bruised knuckles, while Mike had a broken nose and two shiners appearing on his eyes. My old nan would have loved this girl, full of pi.ss and vinegar she would have said.
“Since you are, here we will get started, Mr Black. Your brother has seriously injured 3 students and given another 2 some minor injuries, this is not acceptable here, we are not in the MC, we are in a school, and I will have to suspend him” Ms Gillford said in her self righteous voice.
She has always hated the MC’s kids and went with anyone’s side other than them, stuck up bi.tch that she is. Before I could reply, I heard a mocking laugh from the side of the room.
“Ms Gillford, you know, fine, they started it, and Mike barely put a hand on them. They are just too embarrassed to say a girl kicked their a.sses” Luci said, full of anger.
“Now Miss Cole, I will deal with you later, I won’t tolerate your disrespectful behaviour in here” Ms. Gillford said, going increasingly red.
“How dare you blame the victims in this” Sherrif Cole said as he burst into the room.
“Sherrif Cole 3 students have had to go to the hospital, and another 2 are being patched up by the school nurse, as a law man you should know how serious this is” she replied looking flustered.
I was just sitting there like a spare pri.ck, not knowing what to do or say while enjoying the show. The next thing said made my jaw drop.
“I understand perfectly how serious this is, and I will be more than happy to take Mike to the station to press charges on them. Just because Brett is the Mayor’s son doesn’t mean him and his gang can do what they want. Luci has evidence of the attack before she stepped in to stop it and of her and Mike having to defend themselves. I expect them all to be suspended at the very least and tell their parents they may have charges brought against them. Come on, Luci, and you Mike, let’s get you checked out” Sherrif Cole stated and started to walk out.
I wasn’t going to argue. He had sorted everything out for us, but no way in hell were we going to press charges, we dont go to the law, and gramps taught us that early on.
“Sir thank you for your help, but Mike can get treated at home. Also, we won’t be pressing charges” I say in my most respectful voice I can muster.
“Look ask your father first before making any decisions. You can come to the station at any time to press charges if you change your mind” he says calmly.
“Thank you, sir. I will do that” I say before leaving with Mike.
On the way home, Mike told me Brett had ended up with a broken arm, and one of his friends had a dislocated shoulder, the other a dislocated knee, all courtesy of Luci.
The brothers, after hearing about it, nicknamed her little Lucifer, as she was a hellion. I should have known then that she was destined to be mine after being named the original fallen angel.
I myself was named after an angel Gabriel, found it a bit girly, so I shortened it early on just like Mike, whose given name is Michael. Our parents thought it would be funny in an ironic sort of way to give us angel names.
After that I didn’t see Luci around much, although all the brothers kept an eye on her to make sure she didn’t get any trouble from those a.ssholes, so I frequently heard stories about her latest antics. She was certainly an interesting girl.
When I met her at her and Mike’s graduation, I asked her out. The blue hair was gone replaced with black and purple, and although she was slim, like a model, she had enough curves to show she was now a woman, and she was beautiful, especially those Hazel eyes of hers.
I knew Mike had no feelings like that towards her. He saw her as a sister, so was happy for me to ask her out. Her dad, on the other hand, was not as impressed by it. Lucky for me, Luci didn’t care and said yes to a date.
I was given more than a few threats of bodily harm if I hurt her, I didn’t mind it. Dad’s are protective of girls, and bikers don’t have the best reputation.
There were always club girls around to fulfil any of our needs, and plenty of townies liked to come by and experience a bit of rough from time to time.
Personally, I avoided the club girls, I mean, who wants to stick their wick in a cu.nt that their father, brother, and half of the club has been in before.
I was no angel by any stretch of the imagination, but I had some standards. I was also a one woman guy, or at least I was when it came to Luci.
Some of the club brothers regularly stepped out on their old ladies. It happened more often, apparently, since mom left us. Or should I say was chased out.
There were still some of the old timers and a few new ones who were faithful, and I admit I respected them more for it.
To be honest, my respect for my pops had diminished throughout the years.
I hated that he made sure Mike and I would never have a mom because of his hurt and dented ego. I never believed mom cheated on him no matter what it looked like in the picture. She wasn’t like that. She was kind and loved my pops to a fault.
We were not allowed to even mention her from the moment she left, but a few of the guys had said they thought mom was innocent when there was no one in earshot. In particular, Baloo and Iris, who saw mom as a sister to them.
Pops wasn’t happy about me getting together with Luci, probably even more unhappy than her pops was. They had always had some sort of beef going on between them, which I think was also directly related to mom.
He had always been nice enough to us and didn’t treat us badly because of who our pops was, whereas pops was rude and ignored Luci from the first time I introduced her.
“Women are for fu.cking and giving you a son, then once you have done that you have wh.ores to see to anything you need while they raise the offspring” he had said on several occasions to us growing up.
Luckily, Mike thought he was as full of sh.it as I did. He wanted a relationship like Baloo and Iris at some point in the future. Iris was like a second mom to me, or like my only one most of my life.
If she hadn’t stepped up to help raise me, I would have been brought up by the club who.res. Pops was always busy with club business or fun to care much.
They adored Luci already from the way Mike had always talked about her. She was also one of the only ones that Baloo let call him papa bear. Apparently, even as a kid, he was the type to look out for and parent the other kids. He was also built like a bear, so the name just fit.
I loved Luci with my entire being, I was her first, and I was determined I would also be her last. Just the thought of anyone being as close to her as I had felt like a gut punch and made me feel murderous.
I had waited 3 years to ask her to be my old lady out of respect for my future father in law. I would have asked a week into our dating, but he wanted us to grow first and make sure it was really what we both wanted.
So I had no idea how it all went so fu.cking wrong on my 24th birthday that it took her away from me and all that was left was anger and pain.
