I stood up, raking my fingers into my hair like I could claw the confusion out of my skull.
Veronica rose with me while Ruby was still on the phone with the officer. "Rali—"
"No, it's not right," I bit out. "I was there, Nica. I watched him kill them. He... He," I paused, closing my eyes as the emotions threatened to crush me. "He killed Adam right in front of me. Cut him open like he was some animal."
The air in the room suddenly felt too heavy, like it was pressing down on my chest.
"He killed them. I watched it."
"We believe you." Veronica stepped in front of me and grabbed my hands. "Even Meredith believes you. It's obvious he had the scene cleared out before they arrived."
But how could it have been done so perfectly without leaving a trace?
