In the next second, Claire pieced it together.
If Lucas had shown up, it meant Helen had already told him everything. She must’ve figured out the orchard part, knew Mrs. Morgan and Fiona had come to Willow City, and probably guessed the whole thing. So of course she dragged Lucas along to watch the drama—maybe even stir the pot a little.
"Claire."
Lucas spoke gently.
But seeing her expression shift from shocked to stone cold in a flash, he felt a pang in his chest.
Mrs. Morgan spotted Lucas and instantly looked relieved, like help had finally arrived. "Lucas, quick! Come check on Fiona, Claire tried to kill her! She's hurt—she needs a hospital right now!"
Claire shot her a chilly sidelong glance.
