32-Brooklyn POV I acted before I thought, no sense of self-preservation as I threw myself in front of the love of my life. The flashing before my eyes consisted of all our most perfect moments, with the image of Gareth burning most intensely through my body before my heart gave out. I was dead before I realized it. My eyes flickered open to find myself lying on my back, looking up at a dark sky shot through with billions of stars. The air smelt wrong, if it was even air. It felt like nothing more than water around me, but I could breathe easily enough. My lungs filled with sweet cool refreshment which soothed away my panic, allowing me to take in my surroundings properly for the first time since death had stared me in the face.
