Brooke? Brooke? Where are you? I had sensed her anxiety through the mind link and rushed to the hospital, only to be told by her doctor that she had jumped out the window. Stay where you are...I'm coming to find you.
It didn't take long to zero in on her location. She was curled into a ball, whimpering, in the forest, hiding behind a tree. Scooping her into my arms, she wailed as if in pain.
"Baby, what's wrong? Why are you out here?"
She buried her head in my chest and inhaled deeply, using my scent to calm her before lifting her eyes to mine and whispering, "he's coming for me, he blocked the mind link and he said he's coming for me and the kids."
