"Everybody's good?" Charlotte asked. Lucas and Mira nodded.
"Aye, everything's fine," Lucas replied. Mira took the kids and carried them to the back of the truck.
Last night's watch was surprisingly calm. There were only a few lurkers who were wandering on the road, but still, they couldn't let their guard down because no one knew what would happen in the next minute.
"Where are we going?" Migz asked. Mira put her hand back on his forehead to check his temperature and smile.
"To a place where the two of you can live safely," Mira replied. Migz and Thomas looked into each other's eyes. The joy was evident on their faces. Migz held Mira's hand and sniffled.
"T-Thank you," he whispered. Mira ruffled their hair and grinned. She was happy to help them.
