FOURTEEN: THE BEGINNING OF THE END
Mirabella escorted David and Goliath back to where Donny and the others were camping and introduced them. Mirabella described what happened with the root-like lurker and the infected rats who killed Travis and George.
"Do you have any idea what it was?" Donny asked David.
"We call them banyan," he said as he helped Donny load the supplies.
"The tree?" Donny questioned, his brow furrowed.
"Yep," David answered, popping the 'p'. "They are quite common here. We don't know what happened but they mainly control rats, as Mira saw. We find and eradicate them. They are extremely vulnerable to flame," he added, looking Goliath's way.
"Thank you for coming to find us," Donny responded.
"You're welcome. We all need your assistance, after all," David stated. "
