Chapter Twenty-Four Stan needed something to hang on to; thank God that Jodie was close to hand. The last week had been such a whirlwind that his sense of balance was gone. He was half-tempted to start using the crutches again even though he’d so despised them. For the moment, they sat side-by-side holding hands in the last row of chairs lined up along the side of the lake. They were alone, but it wouldn’t last long.
