CHAPTER 9 I glanced at the bear-shaped clock installed on my office wall, cussing at the slow ticking of the watch. Being the only one in this huge building was completely nerving. No sound of machines, people answering calls or even anyone walking around the hallways; just the deathly silence ruling over the huge building. I glanced back at the watch, grimacing when it read 7:28 a.m. Maybe this was the price I’d have to pay for God knows how long until I was able to tell Kane about my job.
