The stone is right in front of me! I scrunch my eyes closed and I’m already anticipating the worst, when suddenly—-
* RING! RING! RING! *
A piercing sound rings through the air. It’s coming from outside of the room. Somewhere far below us, but the sound echoes and reverberates through the tower.
Carter shoots a look at his brothers.
“What’s that?”
His brothers look at each other in confusion.
“It sounds like an old phone or something,”
Carter lets out an annoyed sigh. Meanwhile, the ringing sound continues.
“What are you two standing around in here for? Go deal with that!” Carter groans, and his brothers quickly move.
“You got it, boss,” Brett says as he beats Aidan to the door.
