“I love you…”
Savannah’s words ring in my ears. These are the words I’ve been dying to hear all this time. All the gut-wrenching heartache, all those hits I’ve taken, all those dark nights spent alone and in pain, it all disappeared when I heard her speak.
But then I look up, and I see Harlan.
His eyes are filled with emotions. I see how her words are affecting him just as much as it’s affecting me. I don’t know what he’s been going through or how he’s been surviving after losing her, but it was probably goddamn difficult. Because I know how it almost killed me.
“I love you…” she says again, and her eyes are looking up to see mine and Harlan.
