I didn’t step inside the hospital room. I just couldn’t . But not facing her didn’t mean doing nothing. Seeing her like that made me feel even more bitter. I had to prove myself. Even if I couldn’t face her yet, I couldn’t be the useless student who abandoned her mentor the moment she needed her the most.
I walked away fighting back tears, but in the midst of the hurt, heartbreak and shame I felt, came determination. I was going to make sure that she got better. She needed to. I was going to work on this, I would open back that closed chapter of my life and make enough research to look for a remedy.
