Jayne POV There lying with her face down, a tube in her arm, the heart monitor beeping away very slowly, good girl, she is closing down, not long now, and it will look like she is dead, but she won’t be. It is something special we can do. We can go into a type of hibernation, a heartbeat so slow it is almost not seen, it is so we can heal. The wolf would do the work while the human body closed down, but she had not reached that stage yet. Maybe the wolfsbane was slowing it all down. That was something to consider later on. For now, I needed to get that knife out of her back and remove the wolfsbane. ‘Leave.’ I shouted at the doctors and stared down at them, as they just stood there with gaping mouths. ‘What? Surely you jest?’ the doctor said, not giving in that easily to my intrusion.
