I was just waking up when I heard a commotion outside. I looked out the window and noticed that some of the warriors had returned from the pack. My heart skipped a beat as I looked at the scene of some the pack members falling to their knees and crying.
I refused to believe that something happened to their mates or to Darius. 'Let's just go and see what this is all about.' Lyra said, feeling the same way that I did. My heart pounded in my chest as I rushed outside. The moment my bare feet touched the cold ground, a sinking feeling settled in my stomach. The air was thick with grief—sobs and wails filling the space around me. My eyes darted around, searching for a familiar face, searching for him.
