[Jade] The people who came in screamed power, they were clad in black outfits mostly leather and they walked in a formation like the Mafia, the only thing that was a tad bit normal from them was the pregnant woman among them. She had curly black hair and her baby bump was so big I was sure that she was close to her delivery date, she had light brown skin and grey eyes that just pulled you in. She was very beautiful and she had an amazing smile, a nice set of teeth, and beautiful glowy skin, her face was bare of makeup and she was wearing sneakers under her black flowy gown. The second female was much more sophisticated, she was lean and tall with an athletic build, she had a darker skin tone than the first woman and she had emerald green eyes like mine. She looked like a supermodel and she was dressed in a black dress with red stiletto heels, she had makeup on with a dark red lipstick that matched the color of her shoes, the first woman wasn't wearing any accessories but she was wearing a small silver chain with a pendant that had a panther carved on it, she was also wearing matching earrings. She reminded me of the girls that used to tease me from school with her perfect statue and I felt kind of insecure staring at her. The big man was dressed in dark pants and a leather jacket, he had a greyish, almost silvery eye color and he had dark skin and dark hair, he had a sharp jawline and like his sister, he also had the looks of a supermodel though in his case he looked like a very handsome Greek god. The last person looked very much like a child, he was tall and lean with the lightest skin out of them all, he had honey colored eyes and he was a very beautiful man, he was dressed in dark pants and a dark cashmere sweater. At first, I thought lunch would be awkward but we soon settled around each other and we were laughing. I got to know that Pierce was the Alpha of the panthers though Panthers did not really have Alpha's and they did not really live in packs as wolves did. Panthers were solitary animals so I guess they just decided to come together to keep each other safe when they became endangered. "What do you think?" Mason asked Pierce when we finished having our lunch. "I trust you." The man grumbled out and stood up from the table, the other man whose name was Brandon also stood up with him. "We'd like to go somewhere private and talk business." The man said and Mason stood up too. Sirius followed and also Jay, leaving the females alone. "They like to do this like we can't understand business as well." The beautiful female who looked like a model complained, her name was Paige. "You know he just wants you to stay and keep an eye on me." The other female whose name I thought was very unique smiled and said, her name was Phoenix. "Yes Nix, he just wants to make sure that you're safe." Paige squeezed her hand and her eyes glistened as she spoke. I realized then that the pregnant woman was very important to them so I decided to engage her in a conversation. "How long gone are you?" I asked her and she smiled at me. "I have just a few weeks to go." She rubbed her belly with her hand and I smiled at her. "This is your first child, isn't it?" My mother asked and she nodded. "I understand the feeling," Liya spoke, rocking baby Dine in her stroller. "Yes, it's been a struggle to get pregnant and I've had two miscarriages so far." She confessed looking down sadly. I guess that would explain why they were treating her like she was a glass doll. I felt very bad for her because I knew how Liya felt when she thought she'd lost her baby. "I understand how you feel, I also almost had a miscarriage, for months I thought my baby had died," Liya said, her voice thick with emotion. "The panthers were almost wiped out completely during the war, the ones who managed to escape were hunted by humans and killed. Pierce is really trying to get us back together but our numbers have been decreasing." Paige explained. "Why?" I asked. "Most of the females cannot carry their pregnancies to term and many of them are almost infertile and we do not know why, our birth rates are so low, we take good care of any pregnant females we find," Paige explained. "I'm sorry to hear that." I sympathized with them. "Have you considered trying fertility treatments?" My mother asked. "We have tried but it's not very easy seeing as we have to hide our identity and many of the doctors have no information on shifters," Nix said sadly. "We have a huge hospital here." I blurted out and their eyes shone with hope. "I'm sure the men will come to some agreement, you can bring your females down here for treatments and check up," Liya said. "That will be amazing, we will forever be in your debt," Nix said. "Yes, that will be great, at least here we will not have to be afraid of getting exposed," Paige added. "I'm glad, I have never met another shifter species, I must say you all look very beautiful and elegant." I gushed. "Oh my, thank you very much, you also look very beautiful and your hair, I've never seen so much red hair." Nix smiled at me. "Yes, you have one child and you still look so good, what is your workout routine?" Paige asked Liya. "Workout?" Liya laughed. "I haven't shifted since I gave birth because it's not safe yet and I'm still breastfeeding." "Well, I guess it's our nature, tell me, Jade, how do you have such wide hips, I can't seem to add any weight." "Oh, Jade is not a wolf," Liya announced and they looked at me in shock. "What is she, is… she… human?" They stared at me with disgust. "Yes, no, erm… I'm a witch." I told them and their eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. "A witch." They smiled widely. "You're the answers to all our problems." . . [Mason] "We have already drawn out the contract if you want to take a look at it," I said when we got to my office. "That's not how business is conducted." Sirius mind linked me and turned to our guests. "Please take a seat, will you like some wine, some whiskey, or some—" "Whiskey will be fine for me, he doesn't drink," Pierce responded easily and took a seat. Sirius brought out four glasses and poured whiskey into them and put ice cubes into them. When we were all seated with a glass of whiskey in hand, I asked the question that was on my mind. "Why doesn't he drink?" "He's underaged," Pierce answered and I looked at Brandon in shock. "You mean he's not yet eighteen?" "Yes, that's what underaged means, but in his case, he's not yet twenty one." "I have wine sometimes but other than that I don't care much for alcohol," Brandon answered. "I understand you, I also just recently started drinking. I was an athlete in high school so I didn't take any damaging substances." Jay said. "I never went to high school," Brandon said and we looked at him in shock. "Why not?" Sirius asked. "Too dangerous," Pierce answered, taking a sip of his drink. " The children are homeschooled." "I think that can work but eventually they will have to relate with the outside world," I said, I understood his reservations about mingling with humans. "Your pups attend regular school?" He asked in surprise. "Yes, they do." "How?" He asked and I knew what he meant. "Since they don't shift till they're eighteen, it's safe for them to go to school, they take classes here on the pack about how to protect their identity when they're in public, we also have allies in the police and news agencies so if anything goes wrong, they help us to cover our tracks immediately," I explained. "That is nice, the panthers are very small in size though so that is almost a risk that I cannot take." "We can help you with training and other things if you like." Jay offered and Pierce smiled for the first time today. "It's very nice of you, though right now our priority is to increase our birth rates, my wife's pregnancy is very risky and unfortunately she has lost two pregnancies." He looked hurt as he spoke. "We will do anything to help you," Sirius assured him. The more I spoke to him, the more I wanted to genuinely help the Panthers. I understood what it meant to recover from a great war and try to help your people. I was doing that every day but I wasn't even near successful. "I'll sign whatever you want me to." Pierce raised up his head and looked me in the eyes. "You have shown me that I can trust you and I hope that I have shown you that you can trust me too." "Yes," I responded honestly and Jay went to bring out the contract. He gave it to Pierce who in turn gave it to Brandon. I watched in surprise as the boy read the whole contract, his eyes glowing on the pages of the paper. "It's all fair." The boy said and gave the booklet back to Pierce. Sirius handed him a pen and he signed quickly. "How about we go out for a celebratory run, I see you have very thick forests out here," Pierce said. "A run sounds great." I shook hands with him and Sirius nodded. "What are you?" Brandon asked Jay. "Oh, I'm not a shifter," Jay said and they both stilled in their steps. "You're not a wolf, are you by any chance human?" Pierce's eyes flashed yellow as he spoke. He obviously had reservations about humans but I guess Jay wasn't really human. "No, he's a wizard," I said and his eyes changed back to their silvery color instantly. I realized that his panther had been in control when his eyes had flashed yellow, panther eyes were actually yellow And they glowed in the dark. "A wizard, as in a witch," Brandon asked slowly. "Yes." Jay chuckled. "Why, we didn't even need to go far, you are the solution we've been looking for." The both of them smiled widely at Jay, almost in a creepy manner.
