[Jade] "My Luna, something came for you in the mail." A servant came in and dropped the mail on the table. If she was surprised that the Alpha was still in bed, she did not show it. I eyed the package lazily but I did not attempt to reach it. I was exhausted from my marathon with Mason and I was enjoying the warmth of being in his arms and I did not want to lose that so soon. "What do you think it is?" Mason asked, rubbing his hand up and down my arms. "I don't know, I never get anything in the mail and we didn't give my therapist this address, I'll check it later." I turned and lay on my front. My stomach chose that moment to growl and Mason chuckled slightly. "I must have worked up your appetite." He smiled and then he turned serious. I knew that he must be mind linking someone because it was not the first time I had seen him make a serious face when he wasn't angry at anyone. A few minutes later, the door opened and some maids came in pushing a tray of food. "Your breakfast." They bowed and left almost immediately. Since I was naked under, I wrapped the blanket around my chest and got up to go and eat. "No, you don't." Mason smiled at me and yanked the blanket from me. "What are you doing?" "We eat breakfast naked today." He smiled. "Even you." I swallowed as I imagined watching his naked chest and shoulders as I shoved food into my mouth. I blushed slightly when he nodded and he chuckled as I walked down the bed slowly. "Ow." I moaned when he spanked me. "What was that for?" I pouted at him. "That was for hesitating." He told me and I just shook my head. At first, I felt awkward eating breakfast in the nude but I soon got over it when the delicious pancakes and syrup melted in my mouth. It was so delicious and my mouth began to water for more. I did not realize that I was literally shoving food into my mouth until Mason chuckled. "I'm sorry, I did not realize you were so hungry, I shouldn't have tired you so much." "I would have eaten this way nonetheless, the food is delicious." I beamed at him and he laughed. He put some pancakes on his plate but his place was mainly filled with bacon and meat. "Do you have any regrets?" He asked me and I nearly choked on my food. "Why are you asking me that all of a sudden?" "It's because I know that you had big dreams before all of this happened." "Yes I did, but my biggest dream is being fulfilled right now, with you and my family." I smiled at him. It was true at the moment but there were still times when I felt unfulfilled. "I want you to have everything you want, Jade, you could go to college if you want, I'd only beg you to Alli some guards accompany you and for you to go from here to school." He said seriously. My heart melted and I wished I had dreams to go to a college in Florida, New York was about 2000 miles away and it wasn't a journey I could embark on daily. "Thank you very much, Mace but I promise you, I'm fine." I felt like kissing him very much but I was afraid that if I did, the tears that were threatening to fall would and I would be exposed. After breakfast, Mason had some work to take care of so he left me alone in the room. I decided that it was time to take a look at the mail I had gotten and so I went over to the table to pick them up. The first was a postcard and I smiled when I saw the picture. It was a picture of the New York public library and my blood turned cold when I realized who had sent it. I flipped the card and read what was written on the other side. It was a note from Zara, she was once my best friend and we'd become estranged because of what she'd tried to do to me. Now I did not know if she did it knowingly or she was merely under the influence of her father and the Warlock but Mason didn't trust her and they didn't really get along well so I just didn't want to make things any more complicated. It was a sweet note where she informed me that she'd gotten into NYU to study fashion, as kids we had both made a pact to go to the same college and Zara was already fulfilling her path. The second was a long letter where she detailed her experience in New York and I started to feel slightly jealous, it looked like her life was moving at a fast pace and she had even gotten more tattoos. She pleaded with me to contact her and then in the envelope were two tickets for New York, I nearly screamed when I brought them out of the envelope. I immediately took my phone and unblocked her from my social media, I couldn't trust myself to call her so I texted her and told her that I was still willing to be her friend if she'd take things slowly. I then hid the tickets, postcard, and letter. I planned to talk to Mason about it whenever he was in a good mood and I worked up enough nerve to do so. I left the room to do my daily duties as Luna, I checked up on baby Dine and she was getting bigger and more beautiful as the day passed by, Mason mind liked me and told me that he was going to come back late because he was going out on business with Sirius and so I decided to spend my time with my mother. The both of us were in Liya's room and we were cooing at the baby. Jay was at work and so it was just the three of us with the baby. I did not know how to handle the Zara thing and so I just decided to lay it straight on them. "Zara sent me a letter and a postcard from NYU." I blurted out. "Zara?" My mother looked surprised and then her expression turned dark. "You mean the girl who tried to poison you and give you to Cyrus?" Liya's eyes turned wide and their colors flickered. "Yes, that girl also happens to be my best friend." I defended and they gave me a shocked look. "I know Zara, she was always kind of intense but she'd never hurt you until she did and I don't trust her." My mother spat out angrily. "I agree with Clarice, you can't trust her and now with the cult involved, you can't even trust anyone," Liya added. "I'm planning on taking it slowly, it's not her fault that she had such a sh*tty father and stepfather, they deceived her too and she was under a spell," I said, defensively. "I get it, but you have to be really careful, thank goodness she's far away from you, keep it that way," Liya advised. "Sure." I nodded thinking about the tickets in my drawer. "I find it very suspicious that she decides to contact you now, the cult is very cunning and sly, how are you sure that she isn't under another influence?" My mother argued. I thought a bit, she did make a point, though Zara had contacted me before, that I blew her off, I couldn't really be sure that she wasn't under any influence. "You're right," I said and my mother smiled at me. "I can't know for sure that she isn't under any influence. . . [Mason] "Is it a good thing that we haven't heard anything from the cult?" I asked Sirius who was just looking outside the window. We were on our way to meet a very important client to secure an international deal for the pack. It came to our notice that there were a lot of other wolves stranded in different parts of the world and we were working to help as many of them as we could and to also keep our identity secret. "I don't know, but I know that you do not poke at a sleeping lion," Sirius replied, not taking his eyes off the window. "We have put everything in place, this time we are one step ahead of them and we will neutralize their plots before they execute them." He added. "Fine, do we have everything we did for the meeting?" I asked him, trying to take my mind off the cult. "Sure, we have everything we could need, we are sure to seal this deal." He flashed me a very confident smile. *** We met the client in a restaurant and the first thing I noticed about him was that he had a very unique set of eyes. His eyes were totally grey, almost silvery and I wondered what creature he was. "Please have a seat." We shook hands and he offered us a seat. "Thank you for having us Mr—" At this point, I realized that I didn't even know his name. "No need for names, you can call me Alpha." His eyes flashed as he tried to assert his dominance over me. "Alpha?" I queried and I smirked when my eyes turned amber. "Coincidence, because I also happen to be Alpha." "You don't seem to be a wolf, I can't recognize your scent," Sirius spoke. "Yes, that's because I'm not a wolf but a black panther." He said. I looked at him in shock because I'd never met another shifter species, the panthers were rumored to have been wiped off during the great war. "The panthers were wiped off during the great war." Sirius countered him immediately while I just sat there trying to process what I had just heard. "Yeah, but some of us survived and we've been surviving since." His face hardened as he spoke and for a brief second, I could see the grief he had endured in his eyes. "I'd need proof," I told him but honestly I just wanted an excuse to see his cat. "Well if you'll follow me, there's a forest behind this cafe, I thought you'd want some proof." He smirked as he stood and I realized that he was almost bigger than I was. We followed him and stared in awe as he ripped his shirt off his body and landed on his paws. I smiled as I watched the dark beast prance around the forest. This was exactly what we needed, more stronger allies.
