2 - ALPHA ON THE GO

1316 Words
“HOLD UP!” The conversation between Violet and Oswald halted when she heard that. They were having a talk as they sauntered out of the precinct. They were by the door and about to get down the stairs. She turned to the person who yelled. Unsure if they were meant for them. She blinked her eyes a few times when she saw the person who called out. Violet’s full attention went to the approaching woman. An irate woman. The said woman was in civilian clothes with the department-issued jacket, complete with the official logo and the precinct number. Violet remained on her feet as they waited until the person stood right in front of them. Unable to stop herself, she took a deep breath. Scent of jasmine assaulted her nose. It was mixed with the fragrance of fresh rain in the forest. “Yes, ma’am?” Violet politely asked. The woman might be half a foot shorter than her five-foot-ten inches. “Where the hell do you think you are going?” The shorter woman asked. She was glaring at the man beside Violet. Her brown eyes were blazing with anger. She only glanced at Violet. A demeanor that Violet rarely got when she went out. Often, she held a person’s regard due to her physical attributes. Oswald was not able to answer immediately. He peeked at Violet. His eyes were pleading for help. “Who said that you can leave the precinct?” “Since he was able to bail himself, ma’am,” Violet responded for Oswald, who went mute at the sudden encounter. “What the h-----,” The other woman swore. She glanced in the direction of the other officers, who appeared busy at the moment. “Who let you out? You are a suspect in a murder.” “He might be the suspect, but everything is circumstantial. He also has an alibi to prove that he could never be in the place of the murder when it happened.” “Are you his lawyer?” Violet cleared her throat. “May I know who you are, ma’am?” She countered at the unknown woman who had been grilling them with questions and unwelcome remarks. “I am the detective of this precinct. He was my case.” The tall woman smiled. She extended her hand to show the detective the document that cleared the man to leave the precinct. “F*ct it!” The detective muttered when she saw the authenticity of the document. “Don’t leave town!” The two of them watched the retreating back of the detective after she said that. The woman went inside the precinct. “That was intense,” Violet said after a while. “Let’s go.” Oswald walked behind her as they left the precinct where the man spent the night. “A-alpha…” “We’ll talk later.” They headed in the direction where she parked the car. Violet was two towns away when she heard about what happened to Oswald and his family. She sifted the documents that were sent to her until the wee hours of the night before she drove to this town early in the morning to get Oswald out of jail. It was a blessing that she knew some people that she was able to expedite the release of the only suspect of the crime that transpired last night. She glanced at the man on the passenger seat. Oswald was looking out the window. Sadness and pain were all over his face. Traces of tears were visible below his eyes. She cannot fully comprehend how much pain he was going through, but she understands how much it hurts to lose someone you hold dear. “Alpha, I swear on my life, I did not kill my mate and my children.” He said as tears fell on his face. “I know.” “I was at work. I was very excited to get home because my mate told me that our eldest was feeling better. We planned to spend the whole day today building the tree house outback. My kids have been asking me for it even before the summer started.” The orphaned father sobbed on his hands as he wept for the family that was taken from him. “I’m sorry for your lost.” “Help me find the person who robbed me of my family. Please, alpha.” “I will.” He tried to compose himself. “I want to kill him with my bare hands.” He muttered under his breath. His voice was still shaky from overwhelming emotions. “He will have what is due for what he has done, Oswald.” “Thank you, Alpha. For everything.” She nodded even when her eyes were on the road. “I, I don’t know where to start. My life begins and ends with them, alpha.” “I understand. Let me take it from here.” She made a turn when she saw the sign for the drive-thru. “I will send you to my hotel. I have to be somewhere this afternoon. Have as much rest as you need. We will talk when I return.” “Yes, Alpha. Thank you.” He whispered. Ten minutes before two in the afternoon, Violet arrived at the venue. She had already left Oswald at the hotel. She was hoping that the man could rest even for a moment from the ordeal of the last twenty-four hours. A familiar man was waiting for her by the entrance. He was all smiles when he saw her climbing out of the car. “I’m sorry, I’m late,” Violet muttered as she approached the man. “V, the staff were just getting ready. Follow me, please.” They went to the back room where two individuals were also prepping for the event. “These are yours.” He motioned at the box on the makeshift table. “Thank you. I’ll be out in five. Thanks, Emil.” “I am thankful that you are here at a short notice.” “I cannot say no to something good.” “I know. For the good of mankind.” Emil grinned before he saluted and went out of the room. Emil and she were acquaintances from way back. He was her contact whenever she was in the estate. Even then, Emil sent her invitations in case she wanted to join some of his events. Violet cleaned up before she opened the box. Indeed, everything she needed was there. They were sealed in a plastic cover. With a smile on her face, she went out of the room wearing the white coat. A stethoscope was attached to her neck. Her hair was also in a ponytail. “Good morning, doctor.” Several staff greeted. They were wearing all wearing a blue shirt. “Good morning.” “I will be your assistant for today. My name is Lauren.” A young woman disclosed. Others went back to their work. “Thank you, Lauren. I’m Violet.” “I can see that.” She chuckled at the woman’s response. “Sir Emil told me that I would recognize you immediately. Now I know why.” “I rest my case.” As they walked towards the series of tents, she saw the line where people are waiting for the attending physician. For years, Violet has been joining medical missions. Even when she was in the university, she always signed up for events like this, no matter the location. In her mind, there will always be someone somewhere that needs medical attention. A long time ago, someone believed in her. Someone believed in her that her education was sponsored throughout her college and medical years without asking in return. This is her way of giving back.
