My head had hit the window beside me pretty hard and I could feel the blood pouring down my face as I slowly looked up, trying to regain my focus. I could hear a lot of yelling and voices outside the car from the people that ran us off the road and I looked over at Asher. He was already looking at me, trying to get my attention. “Can you hear me?” His voice was strained, his hands gently cradling the sides of my face, as if he could tether me to reality through his touch. “Yeah.” I managed to reply, my voice a mere whisper against the chaos surrounding us. “We have to get out of this car.” His urgency wrapped around me like a tight grip.
