Mercedes led us to the doorway of the kitchen, and a short, muscular man immediately spotted us and made his way over to shake our hands. Mercedes introduced him as her mate and king, Valkyries, although he told us to just call him Val. With his short black hair and green eyes contracting perfectly with Mercedes’s short blonde hair and blue eyes, they made a striking couple. When he put his arm around her waist and drew her to his side, I couldn’t help but notice that he was only about three inches taller than her 5’0. And even though his aura exuded power, and he had a calm, confident air about him, it was easy to see the love that flowed between the two of them.
