As nice as it had been to spend time with our friends and family, before, during, and after our shift, I was exhausted. One look at the guys told me that their energy was running low too. So, after dinner, we decided it was time to head to bed. After all, we wanted to get on the road fairly early in the morning, and we needed a good night’s sleep first. We said emotional goodbyes to both sets of the guys’ parents, since Jessup would be transporting them back home that night. We promised all of them that we would keep in touch with them during the trip so they could rest assured that we were all still in one piece.
