CYPRIL. I pushed the door open without hesitation, the hinges creaking softly as the room came into view. The first thing I saw was Melissa. She lay weakly on the bed, her body unnaturally still, chains wrapped tightly around her wrists and fastened to the bedframe. Her face looked pale, almost lifeless, lashes resting against her cheeks as though she were already halfway gone. What struck me most, what unsettled me deeply, was my wolf.
