CHAPTER 4

THEO was watching his mate from afar. Until now, he hasn’t dared to show in front of her. Well, it’s not being a coward. He doesn’t know what to say. He was out of when his mate was in front of him. Even when Artemis was coming to the milk tea shop to buy her drink, he could only utter ‘hello’, ‘hi’, and ‘come back again’. Sometimes, Cassiel laughed and teased him. So, he came up with a plan and returned to the Celestial Continent to talk with the first person who had a human mate, Alpha King Ezequiel Nightingale. He is also the current ruler of the Celestial Continent. As Theo arrived at the Nightingale Palace, he sneaked inside without anyone noticing. He slipped inside the study room and found his friend busy with his Alpha’s duties. “Good thing I didn’t make any traps around the border, or else you’re already dead now,” Ezequiel said. Theo shrugged. “You love me too much, that’s why.” Ezequiel acted vomiting. “Disgusting.” Then he frowned. “What are you doing here?” “You sounded like I was not welcome?” The corner of Ezequiel’s lips rose. “You’re right. You’re not really welcome here.” Theo ignored what his friend had said and sat on the visitor’s chair. Ezequiel was confused. Theo looked like he was in big trouble. “What did you do? You looked like you were going to run from north to south.” Theo sighed deeply. “I came here to seek advice from you.” “From me? Wow, it sounded like I was a mentor,” Ezequiel said in a gleeful voice. “You found your mate?” Theo was surprised. “How did you know?” he asked. Ezequiel shrugged. “Cassiel wrote to me. He was asking me to give you some advice, or else you would hang yourself on the tree.” “That i***t,” Theo muttered. Ezequiel shakes his head. He was looking forward to the day that Theo would learn who Cassiel Hart was. He wanted to see that reaction from him in the future. “So, your mate is a human?” Theo nodded. “How did you conquer your mate? I mean, how did you approach her?” “I can’t give you good advice, because our situation was different. Jazmin got pregnant first before we got to know each other.” Theo’s eyebrows raised. Ezequiel sighed. “How about getting to know her? Like friends at first. There’s nothing wrong with that. Or play as a hero saving the heroine.” “You did that?” Theo asked. “Well,” Ezequiel shrugged. “I am not going to tell you.” Theo rolled his eyes. “Ezequiel, I’m serious here. Help me.” Ezequiel entwined his hands together and placed them on the table. “First, control your desire before you approach her.” “My desire?” “Are you numb?” Ezequiel asked in a pissed tone. “She is your mate. Of course, you will feel attracted to her. Humans are different from us. There were processes that they followed before you two became together.” “And that is?” “Court her. But I am telling you before you court her, make friends with her first. That’s the best advice I can give you. If you don't listen to it, then return to our world and just do your responsibilities as a Vampire King. You won’t stand a chance,” Ezequiel said in a serious voice. “I’ll try.” “Don’t try. Do it.” Theo nodded. “But do you have any tools to make me stop smelling her blood?” Ezequiel aimed the pen at Theo, but the latter caught it easily with one hand and returned the pen to him. “Be serious.” Theo slumped in his seat. “It was so hard.” Ezequiel shakes his head. “If you want to have a queen, then work harder. That’s the advice I can give. Take it or leave it.” Sighing, Theo stood from his seat. “Like I have other choices.” Ezequiel smiled. “Unfortunately, you don’t have a choice. This is our fate. Having a human mate is not easy.” “I’m leaving.” “Wait.” “What?” Theo asked. “Be kind to Cassiel.” Theo frowned. “Who was he? I can feel that you are respectful to him.” Ezequiel only smiled and didn’t answer Theo. Theo left the Nightingale Palace. Before returning to the Human Race, he went to the Northern Region to check the situation. “Your Majesty.” Elias bowed his head. Theo took his seat. “What’s the situation? Does the council complain? Or did anything?” “Your Majesty, they were complaining and asking where you were these past few days.” Theo chuckled, unbothered by the news he received. “And my brother, where was he?” “He’s not back yet, Your Majesty.” Theo could only let out a sigh. He seems to notice that his brother often leaves their territory. Well, he hoped Thomas was not doing anything scheming. Theo asked Elias to give him all the reports and documents he needed to do before going back to the Human Race. Honestly, Ezequiel’s advice was the best thing he could do at the moment. Make friends with his mate. He needed to be patient if he wanted to make his mate like him. “By the way, Elias, strengthen the security of our border, especially the border going to the Human Race. The other night, I killed five of them in the Human Race.” “They left our dimension, Your Majesty?” “They couldn’t leave our dimension on their own will. Someone was helping them,” said Theo as he was reading the contents of the scroll in his hands. And that someone was making the Rebel Vampires stronger. Human blood can make you stronger. So, someone wanted to create chaos, and he would use the Revel Vampires to fight against the Northern Region. “And also, send a message to me once Thomas is back.” “Yes, Your Majesty.” Theo stayed in Winster Palace and finished everything. As he finished everything, he hid his aura when he felt the presence that entered the Palace. It was the council, and he didn’t have time to face them. He needs to go back to the Human Race to see his mate. When he found out that Rebel Vampires were in the Human Race, he got worried about his mate’s safety, especially since her blood smelled sweet. The scent of sweet blood was very intoxicating for a vampire like him. And Artemis' blood was so intoxicating that he wanted to plunge his fangs into her neck to drink her blood. But he won’t do that to his mate or any innocent humans. Theo sneaked out of the Winster Palace and went to the border between the Human Race and the Celestial Continent. Before, he couldn’t understand why Ezequiel always wanted to see his mate. But now, he understood him because it was his turn right now to see his human mate. After Theo crossed the border between the Human Race and the Celestial Continent, he appeared in front of Artemis’s apartment. He looked at the house. It was still dark outside. Artemis was not home yet. “But she was supposed to be at home now.” Worry consumed Theo. He dipped his finger to his forehead and closed his eyes. He looked for Artemis, and when he saw her in his mind, he quickly went to look for her. Theo arrived at a restaurant. He looked inside and saw Artemis eating with an elderly couple whom he assumed it were Artemis’ parents. Theo smiled and left. He waited until Artemis stepped out of the restaurant and followed her home. This became his daily routine to ensure that his mate would return home safely. Meanwhile, Artemis had already felt that a pair of eyes was looking at her.
