Polar Tower. Theo’s Chamber. The wind howled beyond the stone walls of the Polar Tower, and the moonlight swept across the high windows like whispers of a world that no longer mattered. Inside, the fire glowed low, its light golden and warm, casting soft shadows that danced along the ancient stone and velvet-darkened walls. The room smelled faintly of cedar, cold steel, and something unspeakably Theo, clean, dark, and grounding. Artemis came out from the bathing chamber, fresh from the bath, and wrapped in one of Theo’s robes, her hair loose, reflecting the flames. She smiled at Theo. And she didn’t flinch when he approached. Theo stopped just behind her, his presence was a weight she had never faced, only felt. His hand brushed her waist, his breath warming the back of her neck.
