I slammed my door shut, leaning against it for a moment as I exhaled a frustrated sigh. Not human? Power awakening? They’ve lost their damn minds. Shaking my head, I pushed off the door and tossed my jacket onto the bed. This was ridiculous. Whatever Vonnie and Carol thought they were sensing, it wasn’t me.
I barely had time to kick off my boots before there was a knock at the door. My brows furrowed as I crossed the room and yanked it open, only to find Kase leaning casually against the doorframe, his signature smirk firmly in place.
“What do you want?” I asked, more annoyed than I probably should’ve been.
“Came to check on you,” he said, stepping past me into the room without waiting for an invitation. “You looked... tense back there.”
