Window shopping. The first time I heard that expression, I was living with the Myers. Mr. Myers had gotten drunk watching a football game and became belligerent and violent when his team lost. Mrs. Myers told me that she and I were going window shopping.
Silly me thought we would buy new windows for the house. When we ended up at the mall, I expressed my confusion. That is when she told me that window shopping is when you don't plan on buying anything, but you want to see what is out there. You know, looking at things through the storefront windows.
When I asked why anyone would want to look and not buy, she laughed sardonically and said, "Sometimes your husband has a terrible gambling problem, and when he loses all your money on football games, you don't have any money
