It was heartwarming that they hadn’t forgotten me. “How have you all been?” They looked genuinely happy to see me. There were a few new faces, but they knew who I was. “We’re doing okay, ma’am. We missed you.” “Please have a seat, ma’am. You came at the perfect time. Try these cookies—they’re our bestseller.” They served me a few cactus-shaped cookies. I tasted them, and they were delicious.
