RIZ
IT was late at night, and I still couldn’t sleep. I had a long nap, and besides, I was stuffed from our dinner. Even with Justin’s teasing, he wasn’t like he used to be in the penthouse. I find him sweet ever since we got married. Even though he often teases me, I know I’m just too sensitive.
We are two people who do not know each other living under the same roof. Being pregnant with raging hormones makes it hard to deal with my mood swings. I glanced at his back. He was sleeping on his side, and I turned off the light beside him. He had been reading a book, and when I grabbed it, I saw that it was about pregnancy. I didn’t know that was what he bought earlier at the bookstore when we passed by.
I felt the bed sink. Justin was now facing me, but he was still fast asleep. I was about to get up to get a glass of cold water because I was thirsty when his arm brushed against my still flat belly. I carefully removed his arm so as not to disturb his sleep, but he pressed closer to me. His face was now buried in the side of my neck, and I could feel his warm breath.
What should I do? As I tried to get up, he fully woke up.
“Where are you going?” he asked, still half-asleep.
“To the kitchen. I’m thirsty. I was just going to get some water.”
Justin sat up in bed and then put on his slippers. “I’ll get it. Stay here. Do you want anything else? Aren’t you hungry?”
“Just water, that’s fine.”
He nodded and headed for the door. I got up to go to the bathroom to pee. When I came back to bed, my cell phone lit up. It was from my mother.
From: Nanay
I’ve been waiting all day. It’s already early morning, and you still haven’t sent anything. Where are you? Am I the only one getting your money?
Another message followed.
From: Nanay
This is embarrassing for you. It’s tiring to deposit money for your mother who gave birth to you.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. If there were an award for exemplary mothers, my mother wouldn’t even be nominated. I didn’t reply to her. Instead, I read some online novels to help me fall asleep. When Justin came back, he brought bottled water, cookies, and warm milk.
“You took a long nap earlier. You won’t fall asleep right away. Have a little snack. Cookies are delicious when dipped in milk.” He placed them on the side table.
I grimaced. Milk again. I don’t think I will ever like milk.
“It’s good for the baby,” he added.
“I know.”
He positioned himself at my feet and was about to touch my foot when I pulled it away from him.
“What are you doing?” It’s been my habit to wash my feet before I go to bed, so it’s not because they smell or are dirty; I just find it awkward.
“I know how to massage feet. It will help you sleep comfortably.”
“I don’t want to. What if you charge me?”
He laughed, and I automatically shot him a glare. Justin looked adorable. His hair was messy, and he was only wearing simple sleepwear.
“There wouldn’t be a charge, but now that you’ve mentioned it, you’re right. I’ll charge you for my services.”
“I’d rather stay awake tonight.” I turned to him and picked up the glass to drink some water.
Justin laughed. “I’m kidding. What makes you think I’d charge you? If there is a charge, it wouldn’t be money.”
My body?
“Food. You said you like to cook. Just cook me anything, and that’s enough.”

JUSTIN
EVEN though we just got together and are still in the process of getting to know each other, I can already read what’s going on in her mind. She’s thinking I want s*x from her. Of course, I want her, but I don’t want s*x just because I massaged her feet. Riz is still quite young.
While she was eating her snacks, she allowed me to massage her feet. I know she liked it because she occasionally let out small moans. I didn’t know if my decision was right or wrong. I just know she easily gets tired. This would help her feet after our mall trip.
“Alright, time for bed,” I said when I finished massaging her.
“I’ll just finish this chapter. You go ahead and sleep.” She answered me, but her eyes were glued to her book. She kept eating cookies, and the milk was almost gone.
Instead of going to sleep right away, I lay down next to her and wrapped my arms around her. I started reading too, and I was surprised to find out it was a Filipino novel. She immediately turned off her phone and looked at me.
“Don’t read it. It’s not for guys.”
“What’s hiyas?” She suddenly blushed. “That’s not the pearl of the orient, is it?” I asked her innocently. I didn’t know she read erotic romance novels.
“Justin! Go to sleep.” She was so embarrassed.
I reached for the light beside her and turned it off. Only the dim light from the bathroom remained because of the slightly ajar door. I planted small kisses on her arm.
“Justin, I said, go to sleep.” She scolded me, but she wasn’t pulling away.
“I’m trying,” I whispered to her. She wasn’t wearing a bra, and those two pebbled tips were waiting for me.
“Where’s the t-trying, Justin?” she stammered. She wants me too. My hand roamed over her belly, occasionally brushing under her breast until my palm covered one.
“This is mine for now. Once our baby is here, I’ll just lend it to him, and then it’s mine again.”
Before she could protest, I stopped her and sealed her lips with a kiss. It didn’t take long for her to wrap her arms around my neck. She climbed on top of me, and her hips moved instinctively as our lips connected. I couldn’t hold back my excitement and squeezed one of her cheeks while my fingers traveled to her center. Her kisses became hotter. She willingly removed my T-shirt. I took hers off too.
Being married to Riz isn’t too bad at all. After meeting her friends tomorrow, I’ll go see my doctor and do the therapy being suggested.
Or maybe her friends know something and will help me remember the night I was at Club Pyre.
