Neither Alison nor Mrs. Morgan said a word about our detour after I returned. I wanted to pinch my friend for her lack of caring but knew there was more going on with her. Besides, I was still wrapped up in what I'd seen. I had to reach Mom and tell her what happened. I had to go home.
