It was the night of the mating ceremony. Everyone was dressed in smart-casual clothes and was visibly excited to meet their mates. I saw myself sitting in a corner taking in a few breaths for a quick break. I remember Nana had insisted I go upstairs and prepare as well but the work in the kitchen seemed to keep on pouring in.
