28 Her cell phone wouldn’t stop ringing. Rolling over, she reached across the empty bed and checked her alarm clock. 1:54 a.m. Fumbling with the phone in the pitch-black darkness of her bedroom, she managed to swipe it open and croak out a hello. Sage’s tense tone came through the speaker. “Cutter’s been arrested.” She toppled over the edge of the bed and crashed to the floor, facedown. What did she say? No, please, no.
